Contraindication
Contraindication is a condition where the massage cannot be performed at all (total = absolute) or it cannot be performed on some parts of the body (local = relative)
In case of serious health problems, it is necessary to immediately seek a medical examination and postpone the massage. If in doubt, consult a doctor about the suitability of the massage.
The total ontraindication occurs because of:
- heart disease
- cancer
- atherosclerotic abdominal diseases associated with inflammation or bleeding in abdominal injuries
- more severe bleeding conditions (hemophilia, leukemia)
- febrile, infectious or acute inflammatory diseases
- conditions requiring bed rest
- general physical exhaustion or relapse (in case of failure of vital organs)
- acute psychoses and conditions under the influence of alcohol, drugs and psychotropic substances
Local contraindications should be observed in/on:
- places of purulent or fungal diseases,
- places of inflamed joints (acute rheumatism, decompensated osteoarthritis, acute gout),
- sites of bleeding injuries or major bruises and fractures,
- places of animal bites or snake bites,
- burns, scalds or burns on the skin,
- areas of varicose veins, varicose veins or leg ulcers,
- places of swelling of unclear origin,
- sites of enlarged local nodules, tumors, warts, birthmarks, inflamed or ulcerative affections,
- loins in acute kidney disease,
- abdomen in pregnant women and puerperiums and during women period,
- abdomen in acute gallbladder diseases,
- abdomen in case of persistent constipation or diarrhea,
- abdomen with unoccupied bladder,
- genitals and their immediate vicinity,
- nipples in men and on the whole breast in women.
